Hook? Who? The Captain?
So you may be wondering – what they heck are they talking about?
Well, on Monday February 6, 2012 we were lucky enough to receive a visit from Erin Dealey. She is an American author and has written such books as Little Bo Peep Can’t Get to Sleep and Goldie Locks has Chicken Pox. Ms. Dealey talked to you about the procedure that one goes through to get an idea for a book, write a first draft and then edit it. You were very engaged when she was explaining the process and now we would like you to remember a little of that process.
Please answer these 3 short questions below in full and complete sentences.
- How could you use one of Ms. Dealey’s suggestions for getting an idea for a book or story?
- In what way is a hook (remember what happens to fish when they see one!) so important to a story or book?
- Share a hook that you would use for a story or book on a topic of your choice.
C’mon – don’t be afraid! Who knows maybe you will become a famous author like Ms. Dealey suggested and come back to EAC to visit us!

Hidden talents?
Well, as you may have already figured out, I love to sing! I sing in a choir called “Coral do TRT 15″. I started singing in the choir because my friends also did. I loved it and have been at it ever since. I love the feeling of singing in English – when a song is beautiful, it gives me goosebumps, however, I love the challenge of singing in Portuguese. I have learned a lot about Brazil and its culture, through music. There is a rich musical heritage in Brazil and I am proud to have access to it. Here is a video of me singing with the choir:
Do you have a hidden talent? If so, tell us what it is. What do you learn when you participate in that activity? What do you most love about it? If you don’t have a hidden talent, do you wish you did? What would it be? How would that make your life different or better? How would it change how you interact with others?
Make your anwers complete, spell-checked and grammatically correct.
